These two chapters help the reader understand that the population as a whole is kept completely in the dark in regards to the quality of their meat. Chapter seven also exposes the willingness to overlook problems in the slaughterhouse in order to keep the number of Noncompliance reports at a minimum and the profit of the slaughterhouse as high as possible. Tim experiences a lot of conflict with other workers, and eventually his bosses as he takes the role of a Quality Control worker.
